Mario Martinec was born February, 6. 1982. in Zagreb, Croatia. At a very young age, he started to show talent for drawing.  In 1992, he enrolled a drawing and painting course with Prof. Emil Robert Tanay who taught him all basics of composition as well as drawing and painting techniques. The effects were quickly seen at numerous group exhibitions in the "Bank of Zagreb", museum "Mimara", and the museum "Klovicevi dvori". At about that time, one of his paintings was printed in a serious art magazine „Kontura“. With firm foundations, in 1996 he moved to Bethesda, Maryland (USA) where he enrolled in high-school. Whilst in high-school, he studied advanced techniques of painting and drawing as well as art in other mediums such as photography, sculpture and ceramics.  He took part in group exhibitions in Bethesda (Maryland) and Washington D.C.   In 1999 he returned to Zagreb, graduating one year earlier. He had numerous solo exhibitions since and his paintings are in private collections worldwide. He spends a lot of time studying ancient and forgotten techniques of old masters of renaissance. He lives and works in Zagreb, Croatia.
